Argive Press is a small publishing company championing fiction that is outside of the confines of Big Publishing.
We reject genres and literary formulae. Good fiction, like good reality, doesn’t follow a script. It is literate, funny, and heart-rending, all at once.
We reject make-believe. We would rather portray the nobility of a painful truth than regurgitate the reassurance of a pleasant lie. Our characters will wrestle with reality, not bestseller cloud-cuckoo-land.
They will speak and act as flawed people really do. Some may be prejudiced or weak or cruel—but they will be real, no better or worse than you or I.
Most importantly, we believe that the purpose of fiction is to move the reader emotionally. We seek readers who want to lose themselves in the moment, not readers who want to breeze through one book in order to start the next.
For better or worse, the financial bottom line is not why we are in business. Publishing good fiction is. "J.V." is our first publication. With your support, it won’t be our last.
